Fiber patch cords are used to make patch cords from the device to the fiber optic cabling link. There is a thick protective layer, which is generally used in the connection between the optical transceiver and the terminal box, and is applied in some fields such as a fiber-optic communication system, a fiber access network, an optical fiber data transmission, and a local area network.

Optical fiber jumpers (also known as fiber optic connectors) are connectors that are attached to both ends of the cable.

It is used to realize the optical path active connection; the plug at one end is called the pigtail. Optical Fiber Patch Cord/Cable is similar to Coaxial Cable except that there is no mesh shield. The center is the glass core of light transmission. In a multimode fiber, the core has a diameter of 50 μm to 65 μm, which is roughly equivalent to the thickness of a human hair. The single mode fiber core has a diameter of 8 μm to 10 μm. The outer periphery of the core is surrounded by a glass envelope having a lower index of refraction than the core to retain the fiber within the core. Next to it is a thin plastic jacket to protect the envelope.
